Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
