Edwards as well as O'Neil Included in Wolverhampton Wanderers Managerial Contenders

Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the initial candidates under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday after the squad's 10-match without a victory beginning to the top-flight campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the club - are part of the names to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton head coach - who played more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club board as they begin the search of hiring a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected contender, although he would be a surprising choice given he was sacked by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is out of work meaning Wolves would not need to pay any compensation.
