Texas Attorney General Paxton is taking legal action against the producers of acetaminophen, alleging the corporations hid potential risks that the medication created to pediatric brain development.

The lawsuit follows thirty days after President Donald Trump advocated an unverified association between taking acetaminophen - referred to as acetaminophen - throughout gestation and autism in offspring.

The attorney general is suing the pharmaceutical giant, which once produced the drug, the exclusive pain medication suggested for pregnant women, and the current manufacturer, which currently produces it.

In a statement, he stated they "deceived the public by gaining financially from pain and pushing pills regardless of the dangers."

The company states there is lacking scientific proof linking acetaminophen to autism spectrum disorder.

"These manufacturers deceived for years, intentionally threatening countless individuals to boost earnings," Paxton, from the Republican party, stated.

The manufacturer commented that it was "deeply concerned by the perpetuation of misinformation on the security of acetaminophen and the potential impact that could have on the health of women and children in America."

On its website, Kenvue also mentioned it had "consistently assessed the pertinent research and there is insufficient valid information that indicates a established connection between taking paracetamol and autism spectrum disorder."

Associations speaking for physicians and health professionals concur.

The leading OB-GYN organization has said paracetamol - the key substance in Tylenol - is among limited choices for women during pregnancy to treat discomfort and elevated temperature, which can create significant medical dangers if left untreated.

"In more than two decades of studies on the utilization of paracetamol in pregnancy, zero credible investigations has successfully concluded that the usage of paracetamol in any stage of gestation results in brain development issues in offspring," the group stated.

The court filing mentions recent announcements from the previous government in asserting the drug is potentially dangerous.

Recently, the former president caused concern from health experts when he told pregnant women to "resist strongly" not to use Tylenol when ill.

The FDA then issued a notice that physicians should contemplate reducing the consumption of acetaminophen, while also stating that "a proven link" between the drug and autism spectrum disorder in children has not been established.

Health Secretary Kennedy, who oversees the Food and Drug Administration, had promised in April to conduct "comprehensive study program" that would establish the origin of autism in a matter of months.

But authorities warned that discovering a single cause of autism spectrum disorder - thought by researchers to be the outcome of a complex mix of inherited and external influences - would be difficult.

Autism spectrum disorder is a category of lifelong neurodivergence and condition that influences how persons encounter and engage with the surroundings, and is diagnosed using medical professional evaluations.

In his legal document, the attorney general - aligned with the former president who is seeking the Senate - asserts Kenvue and Johnson & Johnson "willfully ignored and sought to suppress the research" around paracetamol and autism.

The lawsuit aims to force the companies "destroy any marketing or advertising" that claims Tylenol is safe for pregnant women.

This legal action mirrors the concerns of a group of mothers and fathers of young ones with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD who sued the producers of acetaminophen in 2022.

Judicial authorities threw out the case, declaring studies from the family's specialists was inconclusive.
